operations & hospitalisation

Routine elective surgeries, diagnostic x rays, ultrasound examinations and dynamic blood tests are carried out between 10.30am and 3.00pm Monday to Friday. Obviously some surgeries are not routine and take place out of normal surgery hours. See our Operations Page for more information.

vaccinations

As responsible pet owners, we know you would like to ensure that your pet is vaccinated against preventable diseases. At New Lodge Veterinary Centre, we use a vaccine regime that maximises vaccination component duration of immunity intervals and we offer a complementary health check at the same time. We recommend that all puppies and kittens receive a primary vaccination course followed by annual booster vaccinations. See our Vaccinations Page for more information.

dentistry

Bad breath can be a sign of underlying disease and should always be checked. Veterinary treatment can normally help to alleviate the problem. At New Lodge Vets our staff are trained in animal dentistry and have all the equipment and skills to offer a full dental service.

neutering

We advise neutering most pets unless you wish to breed from them. Most cats tend to be neutered at 5-6 months old, most female dogs 3 months after their first season, and most male dogs from one year old.

repeat prescriptions

If you require a repeat prescription, please give us at least 48 hours notice. You may be invited to come in for a check up to enable us to review your pet's progress. Our frequency of examination by the vet to supply Prescription Only Medicines or Prescriptions is 3-6 months depending upon the illness. We can also provide written prescriptions on request with 48 hours notice for a small charge, or dispense against another vets written prescription.

micro-chipping

If you want to make sure your pet is always identifiable and traceable then ask us about our micro-chipping service. The chip is about the size of a grain of rice and is placed under the skin between the shoulder blades, using a needle. The process is quick, relatively pain free and permanent.

pet passports

We are able to prepare your pet for a “Pet Passport” including vaccinations, blood testing, worming and flea treatment as required by the country of entry and to issue a “Pet’s Passport”. This is required, for entry to and return home from countries that are included in the Pet Passport Scheme. We are also able to help process animals for export to countries that are not covered by the scheme. Ask us for more information or visit the Defra Pet Travel Scheme website.

terms of business for veterinary services

• All costs of treatment, including consultations, medications and services provided are due at the
time of provision of that service, or collection of the animal from our premises.

• We accept payment by Cash, Debit Cards and Visa or MasterCard credit cards. N.B. Unfortunately
we no longer accept payment by cheque.

• We are able to provide estimates for all possible treatment and services, and will inform you if the

  is to be changed.

• We are not licensed to offer credit, and do not send out bills. Please inform us before treatment
starts if you may require assistance with payment, and we can then try to help you obtain

  fees.
